In the early days of the web, content was designed and hosted by a single person, group, or organization. No longer. Webpages are increasingly composed of content from myriad unrelated “third-party” websites in the business of advertising, analytics, social networking, and more. Thirdparty services have tremendous value: they support free content and facilitate web innovation. But third-party services come at a privacy cost: researchers, civil society organizations, and policymakers have increasingly called attention to how third parties can track a user’s browsing activities across websites. This paper surveys the current policy debate surrounding third-party web tracking and explains the relevant technology. It also presents the FourthParty web measurement platform and studies we have conducted with it. Our aim is to inform researchers with essential background and tools for contributing to public understanding and policy debates about web tracking.

Every person with an electronics background will be familiar with the three fundamental circuit elements - the resistor, the capacitor, and the inductor. These three elements are defined by the relation between two of the four fundamental circuit variables - current, voltage, charge and flux.

In 1971, Leon Chua reasoned on the grounds of symmetry that there should be a fourth fundamental circuit element which gives the relationship between flux and charge. He named this circuit element the memristor, which is short for memory resistor. In May 2008, researchers at HP Labs published a paper announcing a model for the physical realization of the memristor.

It is proposed that memory storage devices that has very high data density and computers that require no time for boot up can be developed using memristor based hardware. A new physical quantity which is also introduced associated with memristor. It also solves some unexplained voltage current characteristics observed in certain materials at atomic levels. This report focuses on the memristor and reviews its properties. The HP model for the memristor is also discussed, and few of the potential applications of the memristor are presented.

Successful laser welding of zinc-coated steel sheets in lap configuration is a difficult process, because of the zinc vapours spoiling the quality of the weld. A new method to overcome this difficulty is introduced here. Which is, Dual laser beam method. In this method the precursor beam cuts a slot, thus making an exit path for the zinc vapours, while the second beam performs the needed welding. The metallurgical analysis of the welds showing absence of zinc in the welded area. Possibility of using a transversely split-up beam for the welding purposes with this approach is also discussed here. This technique is expected to be very useful in prospective industrial applications requiring higher welding throughout along with the needed quality.

A resistance-grounded power system has a critical element that is often ignored-the Neutral Grounding Resistor. During a single-phase-to-ground fault, current flows from the transformer or generator winding through the faulted-phase conductor to the fault and to ground, returning to the source winding through the ground-return path and the NGR. The information presented here has shown that an open NGR is an undesirable situation. A system with an open NGR is subject to transient over-voltages, and so current sensing ground-fault protection will not indicate the presence of a ground fault.
